If you have just booked an outdoor venue in Florida, you already know the habit. You check the forecast in the morning. You check it again at lunch. You check it before bed and wonder what you will do if it rains.
Megan and Michael knew that habit well. Their wedding weekend at The Club at Iron Lake in Ocala, on March 7, 2026, had a chance of rain in the forecast from the rehearsal through the reception. Here is what that weekend looked like from behind the clipboard, and why their ceremony photos show a rainbow instead of umbrellas.

Megan and Michael grew up attending the same schools but did not really get to know each other until high school. Before long, Michael was a regular at the barn where Megan rode, joining her on trail rides. Over the next eleven years, they grew up together. Michael became a police officer. Megan went through law school and became an attorney. They bought their first home and welcomed their dogs, Beau and Sally.
Two busy professionals with a big wedding weekend to plan and very little free time is exactly when full-service planning earns its keep. We worked alongside Megan and Michael for 14 months, with her mom, Clare, at the table for our meetings and by her side through every decision.

The rehearsal dinner was planned for the terrace overlooking the quarry. As we ran the rehearsal, a large storm was building in the distance. We moved quickly and finished just in time. The skies opened up as we wrapped.
By the time we got upstairs for dinner, the team at Iron Lake was already moving everything into the ballroom. The rain was coming in sideways, and the terrace was soaked. Dinner went on, warm and dry. That is what a good venue team and a good plan look like working together.
With that storm fresh in our minds, we watched the sky all morning on wedding day. As the ceremony time got closer, dark clouds lingered near the quarry. So we made two calls.
First, we moved the ceremony up five minutes. That was only possible because most guests were arriving together on transportation from their hotel, so we knew exactly when everyone would be seated. Second, we flipped the photo order. Couple portraits came first, before family photos, so Megan and Michael would have their pictures by the quarry before any rain arrived.
Neither decision was dramatic. Megan and Michael did not have to make either one. That was the point.
The rain never came. Instead, as the ceremony began, a rainbow stretched across the quarry. Brittany from Eighteenth Hour Photography and Andy from Meet The Garrs could not believe what they were seeing. Guests talked about it all night and long after the weekend ended.
We will not take credit for the rainbow. We will take credit for making sure that, if the rain had come, the moment would have been protected anyway.
Inside, the ballroom at The Club at Iron Lake was dressed in soft blue and white under its crystal chandeliers. Long feasting tables ran the length of the room, lined with lush garlands of blue and white hydrangea and pillar candles glowing in glass cylinders. The round guest tables held low arrangements of white blooms, roses, and delphinium, framed by taper candles in tall glass hurricanes. Every place setting had a light blue napkin tied with a royal blue ribbon, set on textured white linens with white crossback chairs.
The cake was a showstopper of its own. Chef Yohann’s towering white cake was finished with delicate piped scrollwork and blue hydrangea, set on a silver stand, and ringed at its base with a ground arrangement of white roses, hydrangea, and delphinium. Florals were by Bluegrass Chic, with decor rentals from Party Time Rentals.

Guests also went home with a keepsake of the night. Two artists worked on site, drawing guests as the party went on. Event Painting by Jamie painted a live ceremony scene through the reception and revealed it to Megan and Michael just before the end of the night, and Purpose Under Palms hosted a complimentary watercolor portrait station. Guests added their names to the list, had a quick photo taken, went back to enjoying the party, and picked up their finished portrait at the end of the night.

The wedding night ended with a fireworks display from RAM Pyrotechnics. Guests gathered on the lawn as bursts of gold filled the sky, and Megan and Michael shared a kiss with their family and friends all around them. After a weekend of watching the sky for storms, it was the perfect reason to look up one more time.

Most of their guests came from larger cities, many from South Florida and out of state. So the weekend closed with a brunch at the Kansley Family Farm, built out for open pastures, a rustic feel, and a slower pace. Sharing that piece of Megan’s roots with the people they love mattered deeply to them both.
We are a preferred vendor at The Club at Iron Lake, and we know that quarry, that terrace, and that ballroom well. If you have just booked Iron Lake and you are already checking the forecast, let us watch the sky for you. Book a consultation and tell us what you are picturing for your weekend.
